Two days. Two ways to explore winter. One weekend to fall in love with getting outside.

What if winter wasn’t about going faster, getting further or conquering the biggest hill?

What if it was simply about getting outside, trying something new, meeting good people and discovering just how beautiful winter can be?

We’re teaming up with Nickel Plate Nordic Centre to bring you a different kind of winter weekend. An experience designed to make winter recreation feel approachable, welcoming and fun, whether you’re brand new to winter sports or simply looking for a new way to spend your weekends.

We’ll spend one day learning the fundamentals of cross-country skiing and exploring the beautiful trails at Nickel Plate, followed by lunch together in the lodge. The next day, we’ll trade our skis for snowshoes and head out for a guided winter adventure near Apex.

And because a winter weekend should include a little extra magic, a little extra play… we’ll kick things off Friday evening at the tube park and Saturday late afternoon with a skate on the famous skating loop.

This is about more than learning two new activities. It’s about finding confidence in trying something unfamiliar, meeting people who also want to get outside and discovering that you don’t have to be a downhill skier to have an incredible winter.

No racing. No pressure. No expectation that you already know what you’re doing.

Just good people, beautiful places and a weekend of discovering a different kind of winter.

What’s Included

• 3 nights shared accommodation in a cozy Apex Mountain cabin.
• Hot tub access at the cabin.
• Cross-country ski rentals and day pass at Nickel Plate Nordic Centre.
• Beginner-focused cross-country ski instruction.
• Guided cross-country ski experience.
• Lunch at the Nickel Plate lodge.
• Snowshoe rentals.
• Guided Sunday snowshoe adventure.
• Friday evening tubing at Apex.
• Saturday evening skating on the famous Apex skating loop.
• All meals throughout the weekend, excluding Sunday evening dinner. Sunday evening dinner at the Gunbarrel Saloon is optional and at participants’ own expense.
• Professional guiding and weekend coordination and lots of lovely surprises along the way ; )

Good to know

• Experience: Complete beginners welcome!

• Fitness: Comfortable with gentle/moderate physical activity and spending several hours outdoors.

• Group size: Limited to 8 participants.

• Accommodation is included and different prices reflect sleeping options.

• Transportation: Participants arrange their own transportation.

• Location: Nickel Plate Nordic Centre and Apex Mountain area (accommodation located on Apex Mountain)

• Price: $777 plus gst ($815.85)

What to bring

Warm winter clothing, waterproof boots, gloves, a toque, a small daypack, water bottle and personal snacks, bathing suit for hot tub ; )

A detailed packing list will be provided before the weekend.

Booking – Please send deposit and all payments via e transfer or email guidedbyadventurepg@gmail.com for invoice to pay by credit card. We accept payment in any amounts up until the full amount is due (February 1st, 2027)

Cancellation & Refund Policy

A deposit is required to secure your spot and is non-refundable. The deposit is $200

• More than 60 days before the trip: Your deposit is retained and any remaining balance paid will be refunded.
• 30–60 days before the trip: 50% of the total trip cost will be refunded.
• Less than 30 days before the trip: No refunds are available.
• No-shows: No refunds will be provided.

If Guided By Adventure needs to cancel an experience due to insufficient participant numbers, unsafe weather, trail conditions or other operational circumstances, participants will receive a full refund of payments made.

Please note that Guided By Adventure is not responsible for additional expenses incurred by participants, including pre or post accommodation, transportation or other personal travel costs.
