Join us for a Guided By Foundations: Trail Skills Day, designed to help hikers build the knowledge and confidence needed to explore safely and responsibly in the outdoors. This experience blends practical outdoor education with a beautiful guided hike in the Peachland area.

Before we hit the trail, participants are invited to join a short pre-adventure Google Meet where we’ll walk through a few key steps to help you arrive prepared. We’ll cover how to download and set up Gaia GPS, how to leave a trip plan, and answer any questions about gear, the day’s hike, or what to expect.

On the trail, we’ll put those skills into practice. Throughout the day we’ll focus on pacing, energy management, terrain awareness, and how to move comfortably and efficiently in mountain environments. You’ll also learn how to use Gaia GPS in real time while hiking.

During our lunch break, we’ll cover a short wildlife awareness session, including key bear safety principles and how to reduce risk while traveling and eating in bear country. Participants will also have the opportunity to handle and practice with inert bear spray to understand how it works and how to deploy it safely.

This is more than just a hike — it’s a chance to learn the habits and skills that make outdoor adventures safer, more enjoyable, and more sustainable.

Whether you’re new to hiking or looking to strengthen your outdoor skills, this experience is designed to help you become a more prepared and confident adventurer.

Details

Location: Peachland, BC
Date: April 11
Duration: Half day (approximately 3–4 hours)
Difficulty: Moderate hiking pace with frequent learning stops. We will be gaining around 230 metre of elevation and hiking around 4 kms total. There will be steep sections with loose gravel so proper hiking shoes or boots are required.

Cancellation Policy

Trip is refundable up until 7 days out. After April 4th, 2026 the trip is no longer refundable but can be transferred. If Guided By Adventure has to cancel then participates will be refunded. This trip runs rain or shine.
