This course is designed to help you step confidently into cold-weather travel\, with the knowledge and skills to keep yourself safe\, warm\, and having fun. \nOver the course of one classroom day\, one field day\, and one overnight\, you’ll learn how to plan\, pack\, travel\, and camp in winter conditions. We’ll cover essential safety topics\, layering systems\, snowshoe techniques\, navigation\, and how to create a comfortable winter camp. \nThis course is beginner-friendly and perfect for anyone curious about expanding their adventure season\, preparing for backcountry travel\, or simply learning how to enjoy the snow safely. \nAll instruction\, guided snowshoeing\, and group gear is included. This is a three part workshop. The first session will be held via zoom on Tuesday February 3rd at 6:30pm. The second day will be a field day (location TBA but within the south Okanagan) and held on February 8th from 9am – 3pm. As the larch trees transform into a stunning display of vibrant yellow and gold\, the landscape becomes an ideal backdrop for hiking\, photography\, and reflection. Evenings can be spent around a campfire\, sharing stories and laughter under the crisp autumn sky. Whether you’re an avid adventurer or simply seeking a serene escape\, this weekend promises not only breathtaking views but also the opportunity to connect with like-minded women\, creating memories and friendships to last a lifetime.\nThis autumn escape will be held in Manning Park. We will be staying in the Last Resort at Manning Park Resort. The Last Resort cabin is a character filled building that can accommodate up to 50 guests. But since we believe in smaller group adventures we will be capping this adventure to 25 guests\, that means lots of sleeping and roaming room for everyone! \nSo what hike are we doing!? The Frosty Mountain Trail of course! Manning Park is the western limit for alpine larch trees in BC and makes this hike the closest place to Vancouver to see alpine larch trees. Yes this can be a very poplar hiker during larch season but that’s why we are staying in Manning Park and will be one of the first groups on the trail! Also who can be bothered by other happy hikers when you are on an adventure weekend with rad women enjoying a blissful few days of movement\, nature\, good food and great company!  \nDistance: 8km one way (to alpine larches) 16km total along an in and out trail. This will be our turn around point. \nThe hike to the summit is 11km one way and 22km total.  If some hikers want to summit then the group will be split and one guide will take a group to the summit while one stays with the larches group and then heads back to camp.\nElevation gain: 800m to alpine larches (1150m to the summit)\nHike type: Out and back\nTime: 3-5 hours (more if going all the way to the summit)\nDifficulty: Moderate with short\, challenging ascent to ridge. \nWhat’s Included:\n\n\n\nGuided hiking through picturesque trails adorned with larches as they turn the vibrant gold. \n\n\nInterp\, trail safety and guiding by a professional ACMG Apprentice Hiking Guide & Wilderness First Responder \n\n\nAll meals \n\nHot Tub\n\nTwo nights shared accommodation \n\n\nGroup activities \n\nWorkshops (intro to Gaia GPS & Bear awareness)\n\n\nGift bag\n\n\n\nJoin us for a weekend full of adventure\, nature\, and unforgettable moments!\nCost – The cost per person is $480 all in. The workshop is always finished with a short lake cruise to allow some time to play around & test out your new skills!\nMEETING  – We will be launching in Penticton on Okanagan Lake. We’ll embark on a short hike around 7 PM.\nSaturday kicks off with breakfast\, lunch prep\, gear checks\, and then we’ll set out for the highlight of the weekend – an exclusive backcountry hike. We can’t reveal the name of this lesser-known\, off-trail adventure because we want to keep it a secret. What we can share is that it’s a wild and exhilarating experience\, rated as moderate to hard\, covering approximately 13 km round trip with an elevation gain of over 600 meters\, leading to some of the most stunning and awe-inspiring views! \nClassic campfire favorites like charades and storytelling\, will round out the evenings. Don’t forget to bring along your musical instruments if you play – a guitar or your recorder from elementary school can add a special touch to the campfire atmosphere.\nOn Sunday\, after a hearty breakfast\, we’ll offer an optional paddling excursion on Kinbasket Lake. This serene paddle is a perfect way to unwind and soak in the last of the majestic mountain views before we pack up and head home. DESCRIPTION:Join Meg & folks from Northern BC Tourism for a group wander to show off what we offer as guiding company and what the North`s beautiful hikes are all about!\nTeapot Mountain is a short but steep climb to one of the best views around. \n4.2 km in & out trail gaining 200 metres of elevation. Rated as easy/moderate \nWe will meet at 9:15am\, Sunday June 1st. Meeting location will be the Tim Hortons up in the Hart\, from there we will carpool and caravan. Once on the highway we will follow for roughly 43 kms & then turn left onto Tallus rd off hwy 97 North & then right onto Caine Creek FSR North to access the trail head. This event is for a media visit with writers/photographers doing a piece for northern BC Tourism. So attend camera ready with smiles and stories. I will be running through standard full day hike procedures so that they are able to see what the process would usually be like (waivers\, pre trip chat ect) \nThis is a free event but please confirm attendance by selecting ticket below. Jim has been a big supporter of us from the start and has allowed us to host many of our adventures on his property throughout the years. He is always there with a welcome smile and a passion to show off his wonderful park. Visitors and donations have been low and Jim has been struggling with some health issues so are hosting this event as fundraiser with all proceeds going back to Jim and Goodsir. The event will be taking place at Goodsir Nature Park\, north of Prince George\, BC.\nBear Awareness – We will be hosting a shortened version of our bear awareness workshop. Learn about bear signs\, how to be prepared when hiking through bear country and get the chance to discharge an inert bear spray.\nPost workshop we will be hosting a casual social with bbq hotdogs and snacks. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first trip to Revelstoke. This is one of our Bucket-List Adventures. We are very STOKED.\nRevelstoke is a wild mountain town nestled on the banks of the Columbia River\, just west of the show stopping Glacier National Park. This place is a whole vibe\, and vibe we will!\nFriday evening you’ll arrive to meet your new adventure friends and feast on delicious food and cold brews while taking in the sights on the deck of our shared accommodation.\nSaturday starts off with a full-day of hiking\, followed by dinner and relaxation back at our stunning chalet. Bocci Ball anyone?\nDay 2 we hit the river with our friends at Apex Rafting for a half-day of WHITEWATER RAFTING! We’ll end the day with a Gondola ride\, bringing us to 5\,500ft\, where we’ll wander the alpine before filling our bellies and soaking in the views at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. Did we mention that this shared accomodation includes a private Hot Tub and Sauna? Oh\, yes\, it sure does!!!\nMonday morning we enjoy breakfast together and highlights from the weekend. After breakfast its time to pack up & say our goodbyes…..until the next adventure!\nThe full day hike on Day 1 will be nothing short of a challenge. The incline is said to be relentless with some sketchy scrambles\, loose rock and slippery patches of snow. Please consider if you are comfortable with something of this nature prior to signing up for this weekend. You will want have experience hiking at least 13km total\, and be comfortable gaining up to 1500m of elevation. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first ever Little Hiking Festival June 21st – 23rd! This year will be set in beautiful Wells B.C. We chose Wells for this first year as staying anywhere in Wells is like basecamping at a back county hut in the mountains. The trailheads are short distances from all accommodations and we have some great group gathering places for meals and activities.\nThe Little Hiking Festival is a celebration of doing hard things with good people. A community of like minded humans gathering around our love for nature & movement in the mountains.\nLets bring the hiking community together for an epic weekend of hiking\, music\, good food\, hang outs & workshops! More details coming soon. As this is our first year we are keeping things small with only 60 full weekend passes being sold.\nKids 18 and under are free!! Just purchase ticket for adult and email name and ages of kids attending. \nWhats included with the full weekend pass –  \n\nOpening celebrations – start at 4pm Friday June 21st\nChoose from multiple different hike options Saturday\nLive music & comedy Friday & Saturday night\nWorkshops Sunday – ending around 1pm\, optional group hike in afternoon for anyone staying Sunday evening\n\nAdd on group buffet dinner Saturday – optional. The buffer dinner will be held inside the Wells hotel. \nPlease see below for accommodation options. Please note camping/lodging is not included in ticket price and is the responsibility of ticket holder to organize. We have blocked off the rooms at the Wells Hotel for festival attendees to book. Please state you are attending the Hiking Festival when calling to reserve room. We only have these rooms blocked off until April 1st.  We have gathered a list of all of the camp sites and hotels in Wells below. Please contact asap to reserve your spot for the weekend. Regardless of where you stay you can also have the Wells hotel make you a bagged lunch\, so if that’s something you wanted to take advantage of please reach out to them to have that organized. \nWells is a small town and  the campground linked is less then a 5 minute drive. The only site that is out of town is beckers lodge/bowron lake. All of the pre and post hike events will be entered around the townsite of wells\, either at the Wells hotel or within walking distance. \nWe will have hikes running for all fitness/activity levels. Whether you want to spend the day gaining all the elevation and stretching your legs over a good distance or just taking an easy stroll above the townsite\,  there will be a hike for everyone! \nWELLS\, B.C. SUMMARY:Columbia Mountains Hike - June 16th\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first hike of the season. We will be heading somewhere east of town to hike within the Columbia Mountain Range.\nWe are sure to be met with brilliant terrain…alpine meadows & views of the ever majestic alpine lake.\nDistance   –  10.5 km out & back trail\nElevation gain – 915 metres\nDuring guided hikes your hiking guide sets the pace\, prompts scheduled breaks for snacks\, water & beauty appreciation moments. Your guide will also cover local history\, animal habitats and go over animal awareness as well as hiking/route finding skills. \nMeeting – Meeting outside of the gas station along hwy 16 east\, just up past the jail. Leaving by 6:30am\, drive to trail head will be roughly two hours. Goal is to be back in PG by around 6pm\, depending on trail condition\, group pace & how long we want enjoy the day for! From meeting point guests can carpool or follow out in their own vehicles. Carpool fee is $15 \nRated – Moderate/hard\, some steep terrain and over 900 meters of elevation gain. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our first Backpacking Trip of the sweet Summer Season! We will be heading into the glory of the McGregor Range.\nCome take on one of the 7 Summits of Prince George with us and bliss out on this epic Northern BC beaut…. with brilliant terrain…alpine meadows… gorgeous wildflowers & a ridge-line that will stop you in your tracks. It’s one of our favs. The flowers…. we dream of these flowers on wet\, grey winter days….\nWe will follow an in and out trail and cover roughly 15.3 km total. It’s approx. 6.5 km and 1\,400 meters elevation gain to where we will make camp for the night\, be prepared to work for it. But trust us- the payoff is high with this one.\nDuring guided hikes your hiking guide sets the pace\, prompts scheduled breaks for snacks\, water & beauty appreciation moments. Your guide will also cover local history\, flora\, fauna\, animal habitats and go over animal awareness as well as hiking/route finding skills. \nRated – Moderate/ Hard with full pack. SUMMARY:Photography Workshop & Snowshoe - February 18th\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join Guided By Adventure & Bill Campbell Photography for this unique collaboration. Guided by Adventure will be guiding the snowshoe as you travel as a group through the beautifully scenic Driscoll Ridge trail. Bill will share his thought process & ideas when it comes to wilderness photography while giving hands on instruction throughout the day. He will walk you through visualizing your image\, the basics of composition\, and the proper camera settings to achieve that vision. Bill will run demonstrations as photo opportunities arise throughout the hike\, as well as assist you with input while creating your own images.\nThis workshop is suitable for all levels of photography and camera phones are welcome. Driscoll Ridge trail is a 5 km in and out trail gaining 370 metres of elevation. Prior snowshoeing experience is recommended if you are wanting to take part in this adventure\nActivity Level/Rating – Moderate\, No challenging terrain but the climb is steady. \nMeeting – Meeting at the gas station just up past the jail along hwy 16 east. Meeting at 7:15-7:30\, hitting rd by 7:30am. After the three weeks out date the course is non refundable however a credit can be issued for %50 of course amount to be used towards a future event. Course fee is not refunded if date is changed due to weather. Your course fee/registration will be transferred to new date if course is reschedule. SUMMARY:Jasper Adventure Weekend - February 2nd - 4th 2024
DESCRIPTION:How does a weekend of snowshoeing\, ice climbing\, good eats\, great people and exploring one of Canadas most beautiful towns sound?! If your answer is that sounds AMAZING\, then this weekend is for you! Arrive Friday afternoon and get settled into your hotel room (shared accommodation) **if you would like to book a private room please request in booking email\, price will be more expensive**\n After checking in it’s time to hit the trails for a late afternoon snowshoe….treats & hot drinks included ; ) Friday evening we hit the town of Jasper for a group dinner.\nSaturday will be ice climbing with Rockaboo Mountain Adventures. This is an intro to ice and will be a wild and fun day. There is no experience required and as stated on their website the fitness level required is – Reasonable fitness (ability to climb a ladder\, go for a short run or hike). After a day of climbing ice (10am – 4pm) we will head back to our hotel for a soak in the hot tub and a beer while overlooking Jasper. For our last night in this gorgeous mountain town we will head out again for a group dinner and hopefully catch some live music or check out some shops and sights.\n  \nWhats Included – \n\nTwo nights shared accommodation at Whistlers Inn\nFull day of Intro to Ice Climbing (all gear included)\nGroup snowshoe\nLunches & snacks both days\nWelcome gift\n\n  \nCarpooling can be arranged. Dinners both nights out are not included in trip fee. \nCost per person is $760 taxes in. A deposit of $265 is required to hold your spot or payment can be made in full. If payment is not made in full you are able to make payments towards balance owing up until January 1st\, 2024 at which time full payment will be required. SUMMARY:New Years Eve Snowshoe - December 31st\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:What better way to ring in the new year then by setting some intentions out in nature with good humans\, tired legs and champagne! This trek will be taking place during the day so that you can dance the night away after an adventure amongst friends and snowy places. Livingstone Springs is located just over a hour North of Prince George. This is an in & out snowshoe which is just under 10km return and ascends 208 m of elevation (coming out). We will bound through pillowy snow and make our way down to the warm springs. Once there its time for intentions\, lunch and celebrations!\nActivity Level/Rating – Moderate\, No challenging terrain but may need to take turns breaking trail. \nMeeting – Meeting at Spruceland mall for 8am\, hitting the rd by 8:15am. It is a roughly a one hour drive to trail head. Goal is to be back in PG by around 4pm\, depending on trail condition\, group pace & how long wander & rest for.  There is a Tim Hortons across hwy from spruceland for anyone wanting to grab a hot drink or breakfast. \n  \nWhat to bring-\n\nGear for all elements (gloves\, toque (for lunch break) & Dress in synthetic layers – warmth\, rain. heat\, snow\nGaiters over your hiking pants or winter outer shell\nSnowshoes\nBackpack & water (bottle instead of bladder as the hose freezes)\nLunch\nPoles (optional) but strongly recommended\nPad or backpacking chair to sit on\nToque\, gloves\, sunglasses\n\n  \nWhats Included?  \n\nGroup snowshoe  (snowshoes available upon request)\nChampagne & Party favours for a summit celebration\nSnacks & refreshments\n\n  \n****An email will be sent out to all group members 24 hours prior to go over meeting spot & any gear/info changes**** If you require any gear or have any questions please email us at guidedbyadventurepg@gmail.com Carpooling can be arranged \n\nWe can’t wait to Adventure with you!\n\nRefund Policy – Due to the nature of outdoor adventure and that we have many upfront costs\, all day adventures are non refundable.
