SUMMARY:Snowshoe Adventure Day - December 10th
DESCRIPTION:Tis the season for snowy wanders\, good humans and Christmas cheer. Join us for this small group\, snowshoe based adventure located in Wells\, BC. This trip includes a guided snowshoe\, crafting with cedar boughs & dinner in a snow globe!\nActivity Level/Rating – Easy/Moderate\, No challenging terrain but the climb is steady and may be off trail for parts \nItinerary – \nWe will leave Prince George around 8am and make the trip to Wells\, BC which is just over a two hour drive. Once there we will be heading straight to our snowshoe to stretch our legs and take in some fresh mountain air. Pack a warm and filling lunch\, we will be enjoying a break and lunch mid snowshoe. The snowshoe is rated easy/moderate with lots of flat terrain and some gradual incline\, it will be roughly 4 kms and take 1.5-2 hours. \nAfter our snowshoe & lunch among the snowy forest pillows we will head back into Wells to the Frog on the Bog for some Cedar bough crafting. You could also get some Christmas shopping done while visiting this unique local shop : ) \nThe day will finish with a final visit at 4pm to The Jack O Clubs Pub. Once there we will enjoy a delicious dinner inside of their snow-globe! \nBellies full and legs tired its time to say goodbye and make our journeys back to Prince George. \n  \nMeeting – Meeting at Parkwood Mall out front the Second Cup at 7:45am\, hitting the rd by 8:00am. It is a roughly a two hour drive to trail head. DESCRIPTION:Its time to get ready for an amazing Winter season! Do you snowshoe up Driscoll Ridge\, Viking Ridge…Sugarbowl? Then this course is for you!\nAST 1 – Do you venture out of bounds\, off the trail or into the backcountry? An AST1 is the place to start. With an AST1 you will learn how to recognize avalanche terrain and how to companion rescue. Day 1 of course is classroom based and day 2 will be field based within the Prince George area.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat you will learn: \n\n\nAvalanche formation and release. \n\n\nHow to identify avalanche terrain. \n\n\nThe basics of trip planning. \n\n\nOptimal use of tools and resources like the avalanche forecasts to mitigate your avalanche risk. \n\n\nUsing appropriate travel techniques in avalanche terrain. \n\n\nIntro to companion rescue. \n\n\n\nYour instructor for this course is Dave McAleney and his company is Highmark Avalanche Safety.\nDave McAleney grew up in the mountains of the North Rockies\, and has a passion for sharing the wilderness with people and helping them explore safely and responsibly. A winter recreation enthusiast for most of his life\, he volunteers with Search and Rescue on the Avalanche Team\, and has worked with Avalanche Canada’s North Rockies Field Team\, as well as other private and volunteer groups as an avalanche tech and educator. Dave sleds well\, skis poorly\, and climbs with enthusiasm. Highmark Avalanche Safety was born from a need for local\, professional education services based in the North for Northern people. With the increasing popularity of snowmobiling as well as all types of winter recreation in the mountains\, the demand for courses and instruction grew also. Highmark has grown out of that demand for education and helps people go harder\, do more\, and be safer in the mountains. \n\n\n\nFor the course it is recommended that you have your own snowshoes\, poles and avalanche gear. if you do not have your own avalanche gear there will be 4 rental sets as well as a gear info night and best sets to purchase locally. This course is great for all levels. \nCourse fee minus transactions fees are refundable up until November 15th at which time the course is non refundable. Full payment required at time of purchase. DESCRIPTION:We are heading back to Evanoff Provincial Park to hike Fang Mountain!\nCome enjoy this wild Northern Mountain\, with brilliant terrain…alpine meadows\, lakes & boulder fields. This will be one of our most challenging trips as there is difficult terrain and steep parts to climb so rest assured your guides will be route finding & assisting you through every tricky moment of this ascent. SUMMARY:Murray Range Hike (Pine Pass) - September 3rd
DESCRIPTION:We are heading North to the Pine Pass to tackle the Murray Range. We love Mt.Murray so much we wanted to also share how beautiful its neighbour is\, The Murray Range. We will climb over 700 m elevation in just under 3km as we hike along side an avalanche shoot making our way up to the alpine. Once in the meadows we can scramble further to North or South peak. We will have gorgeous views of Azouzeta Lake and the surrounding mountains. A stop of the Azouzeta cafe after for the WOLRDS BEST DONUTS\, is a must!\nActivity Level/Rating – Difficult\, we  recommend you are a confident hiker prior to coming on this adventure\, however your guide will be able to assist. This hike climbs steeply in elevation within a few kms. This can be technical with footing coming down. Your guide will be leading with route finding and assisting with making steps when required.  \nMeeting – Meeting at spruce land mall out front the shoppers drug mart between 6:15am – 6:30am\, hitting the rd by 6:30am. It is a roughly two hour drive to trail head. SUMMARY:Leprechaun Trail Hike - August 28th
DESCRIPTION:We will be heading to the Sugarbowl – Grizzly Den Provincial Park for this wicked adventure. This hike starts along the Grizzly Den trail…the start is a easy and gentle climb as we begin our ascent. From this trail we will cut off onto the Leprechaun Trail and up to Patts Pass. Once atop Patts Pass we will enjoy our lunch and take in the views. This is one of our favourite saddles as the terrain is extraordinary and we will take some time to explore up top. We will be heading down to the Grizzly Den cabin and looping back to the trail head. This hike should take 4-5 hours total\, including a lunch break.\nRated – Moderate. This hike is roughly a 12 km in and out trail & partial loop trail. Elevation gain of roughly 800 metres. SUMMARY:Mt.Murray - August 14th
DESCRIPTION:Back to the Cariboo we go for another amazing mid August hike! Our Cariboo based hiking guide Ember will be guiding the Murray/Yellowhawk Trail just outside of Wells B.C. This is a 7 km in and out trail which will take you about 500 metres in elevation. This hike will take you along the beautiful jubilee connector and up to the Summit of Yellowhawk. Transportation is not provided for this hike\, but we can help organize carpooling.\nActivity Level/Rating – moderate\, some elevation gain\, terrain/proper footwork required for roughly 100 metres on rocky surface when descending  \nMeeting – Meeting out back the Jack O clubs Pub/gas station in Wells BC for 9:30am. Please make sure you look into how far of a drive it is from your home to Wells. DESCRIPTION:Join guides James & Rob for a stunning & remote adventure. SUMMARY:Raven Lake - July 17th
DESCRIPTION:Join guides James & Kayla for our first trip of the season\, due to snowpack and water levels we have changed this hike to Raven Lake.\nThis beautiful hike is a Prince George classic! In only 5 kms you are into the alpine with views all around.  This wander starts off gradual up through the forest\, through the alpine meadow and down to the cabin where we will relax in the sunshine and have lunch & rest!\nRated – Moderate ~ this is a 10 km in and out trail. The trail may be muddy with rotten snow in may sections. \n  \nMeeting – Meeting at spruce land mall out front the shopper drug mart between 6:45am – 7am\, hitting the rd by 7am. It is a roughly two hour drive to trail head. This beast of a mountain will take you on a 9 klm hike\, gaining around 650 metres elevation\, and yes there will be views for miles at the top! Want to explore around Wells after\, stop in at Barkerville? DESCRIPTION:This adventure is worth a mid week break from work! We will be launching our kayaks and SUPs off the dock at The Cabin Resturant on Cluculz Lake. We will paddle away following the shore\, hopefully taking in some sunshine and enjoying the first guided paddle of the summer! The paddle will be about 1.5 hours\, after which we will head back to the restaurant for a devious meal & refreshment! SUMMARY:Intro to Stand Up Paddling June 16th\, 21st\, 22nd & 23rd
DESCRIPTION:This two hour worksop will take you from “Ive never been on my board before ” to feeling calm and confident cruising through flat water. Even if you have had some time on your board this is a great way to improve some skills and learn how to make the most out of your paddling adventures!\nEvery workshop is lead by certified Stand Up Paddling Instructors & starts with a dry land portion in which we go over some SUP history\, board terminology\, safety\, launching\, and getting on and off the board. We will cover paddling strokes\, proper stance and trip planning. The workshop is always finished with a short lake cruise to allow some time to play around & test out your new skills! There are only 8 spots available per session\, so make sure to send us an email today to reserve your spot!\nWe will be launching at one of our favourite lakes\, Eena Lake. Eena Lake is a half hour NorthWest of town.\nMeeting – Meeting at Eena lake around 5:30pm-   workshop starts at 6pm. SUMMARY:Waterfall Tour & Hike - June 4th\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:This is a full day adventure! We will be leaving Prince George at 7am and heading out past Vanderhoof. Our first stop is the beautiful hike into Cheslatta Falls! This first wander is a 4 km in and out trail with a break at the Falls! Back in the van and we will head to our resting spot for lunch before we head on for a short but steep hike up to Cutoff Butte Trail. A beautiful lunch spread will be set up for you lake side\, enjoy a stroll along  the beach with sandwich in hand!\nThis hike is short at only 1.3km to the top but its a scramble and steep terrain. The top of this hike is the site of an ancient volcanic landmark with amazing views of the surrounding area! But we`re not done yet! Our last stop on the way home will be Greer Creek Falls. This is an easy stroll down to some beautiful waterfalls and will be our last stop before we hit the road home.\nThis will be a full day of driving and hiking. come with your pillow\, snacks\, ebook (for the drive) and ready for a lot of sitting & moving! \nMeeting – Outside Starbucks in College Height between 6:45am – 7am\, hitting the rd by 7am. It will be roughly a 2.5 hour drive to our first hike but we will stop for breaks along the way as needed. Back in prince George by 7-8pm depending on group pace and how long we take at each spot. \n  \nWhat to bring-\n\nGear for all elements (gloves\, toque\, layers) Dress in layers  you will warm up fast as we head upwards so make sure to wear pieces you can easily take off when you get hot and put back on at the top. SUMMARY:Wells Adventure Day - March 28th
DESCRIPTION:We have decided to make our custom tour into a group tour to give more people to opportunity to attend. Join Meg\, Monday March 28th for a full day of adventure! We will take you from snowshoes to delicious food\, with lots of enjoyable stops along the way! The day will run roughly from 7am – 7pm. Grab your friends and book your spots or come solo and meet new people as you spend the day exploring together.\nItinerary – \nWe will leave Prince George around 7am and make the trip to Wells\, BC which is a two hour drive. We will be stopping at the Sunset theatre to pick up our home made sandwiches that we will be having for lunch & then heading straight to our snowshoe to stretch our legs and take in some fresh mountain air. This snowshoe is rated easy with lots of flat terrain with some gradual incline\, it will be roughly 6 kms and take 2-3 hours. \nAfter our snowshoe & lunch among the snowy forest pillows we will head for a tour around Wells. This will include a stop at The Frog on the Bog Gifts\, Morsels Moveable Feast\, a drive around town to look at all of the eclectic houses and another short walk behind town along a snow-covered boardwalk to take in the stunning mountain ranges behind. \nThe day will finish with a final visit to The jack O Clubs Pub or Wells Hotel for some dinner and refreshments. Driscoll Ridge is located just over an hour East of Prince George. This snowshoe is just under 5km return and ascends 390 m of elevation. This adventure is a great option for anyone looking to take their snowshoeing from flat trails to something more adventurous!\nActivity Level/Rating – Moderate\, No challenging terrain but the climb is steady. \nMeeting – Meeting at spruce land mall out front the starbucks at 7am\, hitting the rd by 7:15am. It is a roughly a one hour drive to trail head. SUMMARY:Winter Shelter Building Workshop - February 6th
DESCRIPTION:Are you interested in trying new things\, learning new skills\, feeling more confident with Winter adventuring? Whether you spend time in the backcountry & are looking to feel more prepared in case of emergency or maybe your just looking to spend a day having fun & meeting like minded people\, this workshop is for you!\nThe day will include building a Quinzee (shelter made from compacted snow) fire building\, winter safety tips & off trail snowshoe. The Adventure Bus is co hosting this workshop with a local bushcraft expert and it will be an awesome day of skill building while also having lots of fun playing in a snow cave…let your inner child roam free!\n No experience necessary just the ability to actively participate in shelter building & snowshoeing! SUMMARY:Norman - Dahl Lake Snowshoe February 5th\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:Lets head West for this snowy off trail adventure. This snowshoe will start off at Norman Lake\, we will follow a path across the forest to the first bay of Dahl Lake. From there we will snowshoe along the lake to the peninsula at the end of the first portion of Dahl Lake. Depending on ice thickness we will have lunch & warm beverage there or we will venture our further and onto one of the the tiny islands.There is so much adventure to be had & it doesn’t always mean climbing the highest mountain! This adventure will take you through snow covered trees\, frozen lake travel & off trail adventure with minimal ascent.\nRated – Easy & adventurous \nMeeting at College heights parking lot in front of the Starbucks (grab your coffee for the drive) The trail head is about 1.5 hour west of Prince George. Leaving Prince George at 8:30am\, goal to hit the trail by 10am. Heading back to PG at 3:30pm at the latest. DESCRIPTION:We had sooo many requests last season to host an evening at the Caledonia Nordic Track so we knew we had to make this happen for Winter 2022. Personally I am a terrible cross-country skier\, but who better to fall down in front of then a wicked group of Adventure Crew humans!! Lets hit the tracks around 6:30pm and make our way along some green routes under the night sky. Our ski adventure will be followed by a fire and some refreshments to finish off the night. Join us for this FREE intro session as we cover some basics to Winter Safety. This will be lead by an AHG ACMG Hiking guide with Winter Accreditation. \n\nAvalanche gear\, training\, where to find courses\nWhere to find the avalanche ratings and how to read them\, plan your route & leave a trip plan\nWhats in our winter hiking packs (taking out all of our gear and giving you a list to take home)\nProper snowshoe & micro spikes use\n\n  \nThis will be put on at Shane Lake\, we will start with a presentation under the shelter and then head out to try out the gear and give some demonstrations. Driscoll Ridge is located just over an hour East of Prince George. SUMMARY:Yellowhawk Trail - November 7th
DESCRIPTION:Back to the Cariboo we go for an amazing fall hike!It will most likely be winter in the mountains around Wells\, so snowshoes are a must! Our Cariboo based hiking leader ember will be guiding the Yellowhawk Trail just outside of Wells B.C. This is a 7 km in and out trail which will take us about 500 metres in elevation\, adventure should take about 4-6 hours\, just depends on snow level. Transportation is not provided for this hike\, but we can help organize carpooling.\nActivity Level/Rating – moderate\, some elevation gain\, terrain is not challenging \nMeeting – Meeting out back the Jack O clubs Pub/gas station in Wells BC for 9am. Please make sure you look into how far of a drive it is from your home to Wells. Adults can have Halloween fun too so come out and take part in a moonlight wander. This is for ages 10 and up. Join us out at Goodsir Nature park for a wander around the trails followed by refreshments & treats around the fire! SUMMARY:Yellowhawk Trail - October 2nd
DESCRIPTION:Back to the Cariboo we go for an amazing fall hike! The weather is calling for sunshine and great temps so we couldn’t be more excited for this weekend! We will be guiding the Yellowhawk Trail just outside of Wells B.C. This is a 7 km in and out trail which will take us about 500 metres in elevation. After the hike we will be popping into the Jack of clubs for a post hike celebration\, beverage and dinner (dinner not included in price)\nActivity Level/Rating – moderate\, some elevation gain\, terrain is not challenging \nMeeting – Meeting at spruce land mall out front the starbucks between 6:15am – 6:30am\, hitting the rd by 6:30am. It is a roughly two hour drive to trail head. Goal is to be back in PG by around 7pm\, depending on trail condition\, group pace & how long we mingle at pub after. Please be aware that if you are riding in the van you must wear a mask while not eating or drinking. For the pub after you will need to show vaccine passport\, as per provincial health guidelines. If you do not want to stay for pub after you can meet us in Wells and just attend hike. \n  \nWhat to bring-\n\nGear for all elements (gloves\, toque (for alpine) & Dress in synthetic layers (no cotton) – warmth\, rain. heat\, snow!\nBackpack & water\nLunch\nGaiters (optional)\nPoles (optional)\nPad or backpacking chair to sit on\nBear spray if you have it\, please no bear bells\n\n\nWhats Included? \n\nGuided hike  (hike with ACMG Hiking guide apprentice & tail guide who have park permit to operate within park\, extensive knowledge of area\, route\, terrain & is equipped to keep you safe while you have an amazing time on your adventure)\nSnacks & refreshments\nTransportation from PG to trailhead and back\n\n****An email will be sent out to all group members 24 hours prior to go over meeting spot & any gear/info changes**** If you require any gear or have any questions please email us at theadventurebustours@gmail.com \n\nWe can’t wait to Adventure with you!\nMeg & James \nRefund Policy – Due to the nature of outdoor adventure and that we have many upfront costs\, all day adventures are non refundable. However we can issue a credit for 50% of original amount that guest can use to a future adventure. SUMMARY:Fang Mountain - September 29th
DESCRIPTION:Its time to head back to Fang for a day hike! This will be one of our most challenging trips as there is difficult terrain and steep parts to climb. We will take our time and make sure everyone feels confident making their way through the boulder fields and up the steep pitch to the first cave. Once in the meadows we will rest\, take in the views and then make our way to the summit!\n  \nActivity Level/Rating – Difficult\, we highly recommend you are a strong hiker prior to coming on this adventure. This is a 15 km in and out trail with 1100 m elevation \nMeeting – Meeting at spruce land mall out front the starbucks between 6:15am – 6:30am\, hitting the rd by 6:30am. It is a roughly two hour drive to trail head.
