DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first ever Little Hiking Festival June 21st – 23rd! This year will be set in beautiful Wells B.C. We chose Wells for this first year as staying anywhere in Wells is like basecamping at a back county hut in the mountains. The trailheads are short distances from all accommodations and we have some great group gathering places for meals and activities.\nThe Little Hiking Festival is a celebration of doing hard things with good people. A community of like minded humans gathering around our love for nature & movement in the mountains.\nLets bring the hiking community together for an epic weekend of hiking\, music\, good food\, hang outs & workshops! More details coming soon. As this is our first year we are keeping things small with only 60 full weekend passes being sold.\nKids 18 and under are free!! Just purchase ticket for adult and email name and ages of kids attending. \nWhats included with the full weekend pass –  \n\nOpening celebrations – start at 4pm Friday June 21st\nChoose from multiple different hike options Saturday\nLive music & comedy Friday & Saturday night\nWorkshops Sunday – ending around 1pm\, optional group hike in afternoon for anyone staying Sunday evening\n\nAdd on group buffet dinner Saturday – optional. The buffer dinner will be held inside the Wells hotel. \nPlease see below for accommodation options. SUMMARY:Columbia Mountains Hike - June 16th\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first hike of the season. We will be heading somewhere east of town to hike within the Columbia Mountain Range.\nWe are sure to be met with brilliant terrain…alpine meadows & views of the ever majestic alpine lake.\nDistance   –  10.5 km out & back trail\nElevation gain – 915 metres\nDuring guided hikes your hiking guide sets the pace\, prompts scheduled breaks for snacks\, water & beauty appreciation moments. Your guide will also cover local history\, animal habitats and go over animal awareness as well as hiking/route finding skills. \nMeeting – Meeting outside of the gas station along hwy 16 east\, just up past the jail. Leaving by 6:30am\, drive to trail head will be roughly two hours. Goal is to be back in PG by around 6pm\, depending on trail condition\, group pace & how long we want enjoy the day for! From meeting point guests can carpool or follow out in their own vehicles. Carpool fee is $15 \nRated – Moderate/hard\, some steep terrain and over 900 meters of elevation gain. You will be taught and coached by an ACMG guide delivering our well-established curriculum. Like any technical sport\, learning the proper skills and techniques early on will ensure you develop good habits and have endless opportunities to continue to progress in the exciting sport of outdoor rock climbing. \nThe focus of this course is having fun while learning and getting mileage on the rock with the help of ACMG guides! SUMMARY:Photography Workshop & Snowshoe - February 18th\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join Guided By Adventure & Bill Campbell Photography for this unique collaboration. Guided by Adventure will be guiding the snowshoe as you travel as a group through the beautifully scenic Driscoll Ridge trail. Bill will share his thought process & ideas when it comes to wilderness photography while giving hands on instruction throughout the day. He will walk you through visualizing your image\, the basics of composition\, and the proper camera settings to achieve that vision. Bill will run demonstrations as photo opportunities arise throughout the hike\, as well as assist you with input while creating your own images.\nThis workshop is suitable for all levels of photography and camera phones are welcome. Driscoll Ridge trail is a 5 km in and out trail gaining 370 metres of elevation. Prior snowshoeing experience is recommended if you are wanting to take part in this adventure\nActivity Level/Rating – Moderate\, No challenging terrain but the climb is steady. \nMeeting – Meeting at the gas station just up past the jail along hwy 16 east. Meeting at 7:15-7:30\, hitting rd by 7:30am. SUMMARY:New Years Eve Snowshoe - December 31st\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:What better way to ring in the new year then by setting some intentions out in nature with good humans\, tired legs and champagne! This trek will be taking place during the day so that you can dance the night away after an adventure amongst friends and snowy places. Livingstone Springs is located just over a hour North of Prince George. This is an in & out snowshoe which is just under 10km return and ascends 208 m of elevation (coming out). We will bound through pillowy snow and make our way down to the warm springs. Once there its time for intentions\, lunch and celebrations!\nActivity Level/Rating – Moderate\, No challenging terrain but may need to take turns breaking trail. \nMeeting – Meeting at Spruceland mall for 8am\, hitting the rd by 8:15am. It is a roughly a one hour drive to trail head. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a beautiful fall wander as we raise money in support of Move4Kids. MOVE 4 Kids is a national fundraising event supporting MOVE by GoodLife Kids – a FREE physical activity and fitness program for youth ages 12 to 21 with autism and intellectual disabilities. \nWe will be meeting at the UNBC Greenway Trails Parking lot located off Tyner Blvd. We will be doing a roughly 2.5 km loop which will take just under an hour. \nPlease dress for rain or shine. Bring a backpack for water\, layers and a headlamp. \nCash donations will be collected at trail head. Prizes for a Goodlife membership and Guided By Adventure GC will we given away. \nPlease register with ticket below so that we know how many people will be attending.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for our last Raven Lake hike of the season!\nThis beautiful hike is a Prince George classic! In only 4 kms you are into the alpine with views all around. From the stunning alpine meadows we will make our way down to the cabin that is nestled in beside Raven Lake. After lunch we will make our way up to the ridge. from here we travel ridge taking in 360 views and then following the ridge back out to the main trail.\nThis wander starts off gradual up through the forest\, through the alpine meadow and down to the cabin where we will relax in the sunshine and have lunch & rest!\nRated – Moderate ~ this is a 12 km in and out trail. Terrain is mellow accept for one steep section going from cabin to ridge. \nMeeting – Meeting outside of Tim hortons on Massey Dr. (same parking lot as Princess Auto) between 6:45am – 7am\, hitting the rd by 7am. Drive to trailhead is around 2 hours. Goal is to be back in PG by around 5pm\, depending on trail condition\, group pace & how long we want enjoy the day for! From meeting point guests can carpool or follow out in their own vehicles. Your guide will also cover local history\, flora\, fauna\, animal habitats and go over animal awareness as well as hiking/route finding skills. \nMeeting – Meeting outside of Tim hortons on Massey Dr. (same parking lot as Princess Auto) between 6:45am – 7am\, hitting the rd by 7am. DESCRIPTION:We are always trying to come up with different & fun outdoor gatherings and we couldn’t be more excited for this floating concert! Join us for our first annual Songs\, Sunsets & Sips. We will meet at Nukko Lake Community centre and launch our kayaks\, SUPs\, canoes from there. As you paddle along the lake you will be serenaded by some sweet acoustic music bouncing off the lake. The paddle will be roughly 1.5-2 hours long with the music being played for about 1 hour. DESCRIPTION:We are heading back to Evanoff Provincial Park to hike Fang Mountain! Lets go for a mid week stroll & have the entire mountain to ourselves!\nCome enjoy this wild Northern Mountain\, with brilliant terrain…alpine meadows\, lakes & boulder fields. This will be one of our most challenging trips as there is difficult terrain and steep parts to climb so rest assured your guides will be route finding & assisting you through every tricky moment of this ascent. This adventure is 12 km round trip\, gaining over 900 metres of elevation.\nDuring guided hikes your hiking guide sets the pace\, prompts scheduled breaks for snacks\, water & beauty appreciation moments. Your guide will also cover local history\, flora\, fauna\, animal habitats and go over animal awareness as well as hiking/route finding skills.\nMeeting – Meeting outside of Tim hortons on Massey Dr. (same parking lot as Princess Auto) between 6:45am – 7am\, hitting the rd by 7am. Drive to trailhead is around 2 hours. Goal is to be back in PG by around 6pm\, depending on trail condition\, group pace & how long we want enjoy the day for! From meeting point guests can carpool or follow out in their own vehicles. Carpool fee is $15 \nRated – Difficult.  Some very steep/rocky terrain and almost 1000 meters of elevation gain. We suggest you are a confident hiking a full day prior to attending this trip. DESCRIPTION:Foraged in Winter: Forest Medicines\, Teas and Treats \nWinter is not over yet! \nCome out for an afternoon snowshoe and learn about our local plants that can be gathered in winter to make medicines\, teas\, and treats. Try some conifer needle teas that are high in Vitamin C and cookies that are infused with the flavor of the forest! \nYou will have a chance to gather some tree parts and other herbs to bring home for your pantry and medicine cabinet. You will be provided with How-To’s\, recipes\, and other information to help identify local wild plants/trees\, their benefits\, and how to process them into medicines\, teas and treats. \nThis will be a 6 km round trip hike on an old logging road. Only a 15 minute drive from downtown Prince George! As we will be stepping off the road from time to time\, it would be ideal to wear snowshoes. \nThis workshop will be weather dependent. SUMMARY:Murray Cabin Snowshoe - January 28th\, 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Murray/Yellowhawk trail has to be one of our favourite summer hiking destinations and so not surprisingly the winter route is one of our most loved snowshoes. This adventure will take you to the Cariboos\, just outside of Wells\, BC. This snowshoe starts off with a short but steep incline followed by a more relaxed\, gradual climb. This trail has lots of flat breaks through meadows & beautiful scenery all around. The goal for the day is to reach the saddle that holds the tiny backcountry cabin\, Murray Cabin. We will stoke the fire at the cabin\, have lunch\, warm beverages and relax before our journey back to the trail head. This adventure is roughly 9km total\, along an in & out trail\, gaining 390 metres of elevation.\nActivity Level/Rating – Moderate\, some challenging snowshoe terrain which you will be guided through\, lots of flat sections and short steep sections. Will be a longer day so experience snowshoeing through deep powder is recommended. \nMeeting – Meeting at Parkwood mall out front the second cup at 6:30am\, hitting the road by 6:45am. We will be carpooling from this location. carpool fee to be given to driver is $20 per guest.  It is roughly a two hour drive to trail head. The snowshoe is rated easy/moderate with lots of flat terrain and some gradual incline\, it will be roughly 4 kms and take 1.5-2 hours. \nAfter our snowshoe & lunch among the snowy forest pillows we will head back into Wells to the Frog on the Bog for some Cedar bough crafting. You could also get some Christmas shopping done while visiting this unique local shop : ) \nThe day will finish with a final visit at 4pm to The Jack O Clubs Pub. Then this course is for you!\nAST 1 – Do you venture out of bounds\, off the trail or into the backcountry? An AST1 is the place to start. With an AST1 you will learn how to recognize avalanche terrain and how to companion rescue. Day 1 of course is classroom based and day 2 will be field based within the Prince George area.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat you will learn: \n\n\nAvalanche formation and release. \n\n\nHow to identify avalanche terrain. \n\n\nThe basics of trip planning. \n\n\nOptimal use of tools and resources like the avalanche forecasts to mitigate your avalanche risk. \n\n\nUsing appropriate travel techniques in avalanche terrain. \n\n\nIntro to companion rescue. \n\n\n\nYour instructor for this course is Dave McAleney and his company is Highmark Avalanche Safety.\nDave McAleney grew up in the mountains of the North Rockies\, and has a passion for sharing the wilderness with people and helping them explore safely and responsibly. A winter recreation enthusiast for most of his life\, he volunteers with Search and Rescue on the Avalanche Team\, and has worked with Avalanche Canada’s North Rockies Field Team\, as well as other private and volunteer groups as an avalanche tech and educator. Dave sleds well\, skis poorly\, and climbs with enthusiasm. Highmark Avalanche Safety was born from a need for local\, professional education services based in the North for Northern people. With the increasing popularity of snowmobiling as well as all types of winter recreation in the mountains\, the demand for courses and instruction grew also. Highmark has grown out of that demand for education and helps people go harder\, do more\, and be safer in the mountains. \n\n\n\nFor the course it is recommended that you have your own snowshoes\, poles and avalanche gear. if you do not have your own avalanche gear there will be 4 rental sets as well as a gear info night and best sets to purchase locally. SUMMARY:Murray Range Hike (Pine Pass) - September 3rd
DESCRIPTION:We are heading North to the Pine Pass to tackle the Murray Range. We love Mt.Murray so much we wanted to also share how beautiful its neighbour is\, The Murray Range. We will climb over 700 m elevation in just under 3km as we hike along side an avalanche shoot making our way up to the alpine. Once in the meadows we can scramble further to North or South peak. We will have gorgeous views of Azouzeta Lake and the surrounding mountains. A stop of the Azouzeta cafe after for the WOLRDS BEST DONUTS\, is a must!\nActivity Level/Rating – Difficult\, we  recommend you are a confident hiker prior to coming on this adventure\, however your guide will be able to assist. This hike climbs steeply in elevation within a few kms. This can be technical with footing coming down. Your guide will be leading with route finding and assisting with making steps when required.  \nMeeting – Meeting at spruce land mall out front the shoppers drug mart between 6:15am – 6:30am\, hitting the rd by 6:30am. It is a roughly two hour drive to trail head. SUMMARY:Leprechaun Trail Hike - August 28th
DESCRIPTION:We will be heading to the Sugarbowl – Grizzly Den Provincial Park for this wicked adventure. This hike starts along the Grizzly Den trail…the start is a easy and gentle climb as we begin our ascent. From this trail we will cut off onto the Leprechaun Trail and up to Patts Pass. Once atop Patts Pass we will enjoy our lunch and take in the views. This is one of our favourite saddles as the terrain is extraordinary and we will take some time to explore up top. We will be heading down to the Grizzly Den cabin and looping back to the trail head. This hike should take 4-5 hours total\, including a lunch break.\nRated – Moderate. This hike is roughly a 12 km in and out trail & partial loop trail. Elevation gain of roughly 800 metres. No technical components \nMeeting – Meeting at spruce land mall out front the shoppers drug mart between 6:45am – 7am\, hitting the rd by 7am. SUMMARY:Mt.Murray - August 14th
DESCRIPTION:Back to the Cariboo we go for another amazing mid August hike! Our Cariboo based hiking guide Ember will be guiding the Murray/Yellowhawk Trail just outside of Wells B.C. This is a 7 km in and out trail which will take you about 500 metres in elevation. This hike will take you along the beautiful jubilee connector and up to the Summit of Yellowhawk. Transportation is not provided for this hike\, but we can help organize carpooling.\nActivity Level/Rating – moderate\, some elevation gain\, terrain/proper footwork required for roughly 100 metres on rocky surface when descending  \nMeeting – Meeting out back the Jack O clubs Pub/gas station in Wells BC for 9:30am. Please make sure you look into how far of a drive it is from your home to Wells.
