DESCRIPTION:Get ready for a magical weekend of snow\, community\, and fun in the heart of the Cariboo Mountains! Join us in Wells\, BC for a cozy and exciting winter escape at the Wells Snowshoe Festival 2026! All proceeds go to the Wats Society. \nWhat is Wats? WATS (Wells and Area Trails Society) is a non-profit\, volunteer-run society that works to develop\, maintain and improve the non-motorized trails in the Wells\, BC area.  WATS encourages all forms of non-motorized recreation including hiking\, biking\, skiing and snowshoeing\, with no trail fees!\nThis Weekend of all things Snowshoe will kick off Friday evening with a casual meet-up and blissy night time walk to connect with other festival goers and stare at the stars! On Saturday\, take part in the Cariboo Cup\, a fun and friendly snowshoe race suitable for all levels! Join us for family-friendly games and activity throughout the day\, and end your evening with a Snowshoe Festival appropriate film at the Sunset Theatre! Sunday\, we’ll slow down and explore Well’s pillowy landscape on a guided snowshoe before the weekend wraps up.\nTicket options below: \n\nEntry into either the 5km or 10km race – races start at 11:00am\nFilm festival at the Sunset Theatre – starts at 7pm\nGuided Snowshoe Sunday – starts at 10am\nBreakfast Sunday – starts at 8:30am\n\n  \nIf you are coming from out of town and would like to make a weekend out of it please see below for accommodation. DESCRIPTION:Winter Camping & Travel Course\n(A Guided by Adventure Learning Experience) \nOverview\nWinter changes everything — the landscape\, the pace\, and the way we prepare. This course is designed to help you step confidently into cold-weather travel\, with the knowledge and skills to keep yourself safe\, warm\, and having fun. \nOver the course of one classroom day\, one field day\, and one overnight\, you’ll learn how to plan\, pack\, travel\, and camp in winter conditions. We’ll cover essential safety topics\, layering systems\, snowshoe techniques\, navigation\, and how to create a comfortable winter camp. \nThis course is beginner-friendly and perfect for anyone curious about expanding their adventure season\, preparing for backcountry travel\, or simply learning how to enjoy the snow safely. \nAll instruction\, guided snowshoeing\, and group gear is included. This is a three part workshop. The first session will be held via zoom on Tuesday February 3rd at 6:30pm. The second day will be a field day (location TBA but within the south Okanagan) and held on February 8th from 9am – 3pm. No prior snowshoeing or camping experience required — just a sense of adventure and readiness to learn! \n\nWhat’s Included\n\n\n1 classroom session \n\n\n1 field day \n\n\n1 overnight winter camp \n\n\nInstruction from certified and experienced guides \n\n\nGroup safety equipment and demonstration gear \n\n\nParticipants provide: personal clothing\, footwear\, snowshoes (rentals available)\, and personal camping gear. \nCost is $249 plus gst.
