SUMMARY:Columbia Mountains Hike - June 16th\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the first hike of the season. We will be heading somewhere east of town to hike within the Columbia Mountain Range.\nWe are sure to be met with brilliant terrain…alpine meadows & views of the ever majestic alpine lake.\nDistance   –  10.5 km out & back trail\nElevation gain – 915 metres\nDuring guided hikes your hiking guide sets the pace\, prompts scheduled breaks for snacks\, water & beauty appreciation moments. Your guide will also cover local history\, animal habitats and go over animal awareness as well as hiking/route finding skills. \nMeeting – Meeting outside of the gas station along hwy 16 east\, just up past the jail. Leaving by 6:30am\, drive to trail head will be roughly two hours. Goal is to be back in PG by around 6pm\, depending on trail condition\, group pace & how long we want enjoy the day for! From meeting point guests can carpool or follow out in their own vehicles. Carpool fee is $15 \nRated – Moderate/hard\, some steep terrain and over 900 meters of elevation gain. We suggest you are a confident hiking a full day prior to attending this trip. \n  \nWhat to bring/wear-\n\nGear for all elements (gloves\, toque (for alpine) & Dress in synthetic layers – warmth\, rain. heat\, mosquitos!\nHiking boots\nBandana on pack (use for sweat or as tissue)\nBackpack & water (2L)\nLunch\nGaiters (strongly recommended)\nPoles (strongly recommended)\nPad or backpacking chair to sit on\nAny personal medications/toiletries needed\nBear spray if you have it\, please no bear bells\n\n\nWhats Included? \n\nGuided hike  (hike with an apprentice ACMG Hiking Guide who has extensive knowledge of area\, route\, terrain & is equipped to keep you safe while you have an amazing time on your adventure)\nTrail Interpretation\nSnacks & refreshments\nFirst aid kit stocked for amount of guests (Guide is a Wilderness First Responder & OFA Level3)\nBug spray\, sunscreen\nEmergency GPS device\nCarpooling can be arranged\n\n\nPlease click link and read waiver (first page) prior to booking spot on this trip. Guide will have paper copy for guests to sign morning of hike.
